Chester "Chet" Shermer, MD, FACEP is a board-certified emergency physician and military medical officer with over 15 years of clinical and operational experience. He serves as State Surgeon for the Army National Guard and as a HEMS (helicopter emergency medical services) medical director, and has served as an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and a hands-on instructor for military medical personnel across the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Space Force.
His passion for prehospital and tactical medicine — combined with a reputation for making complex clinical concepts approachable and memorable — led him to build MilMedSim. The platform translates his teaching philosophy into an always-available, AI-powered training environment that meets military medical providers where they are: in the field, between shifts, and on deployment.
He holds certifications in PHTLS, ACLS, and ATLS, and teaches to the published TCCC guidelines.
